When will I see the Round Ups happen? What does settle mean?
Last updated: August 25, 2022
Round Ups happen when your purchase or ATM withdrawal is settled, which means when all the back-end, behind-the-scenes processes the merchant (or ATM provider) takes to collect your funds are done. Generally, this is 1-3 days after you used your Spruce debit card to make a purchase, but sometimes settling can take longer. In fact, the merchant can take up to 30 days.
While long intervals between a transaction’s authorization (which happens when you make the purchase) and settlement are unusual, they do happen more frequently with travel merchants, such as hotels or rental cars.
What’s important to remember is that you’ll receive a Round Up to your Extra Savings account if Round Up is on when the transaction settles – even if that transaction was originally made days or weeks ago and Round Up was turned off at the time of the initial authorization.
