How to use your Spruce account to pay for bills and subscriptions.

Last updated: August 01, 2024

Find out how to update your payment information to Spruce all from the app.

Under Spruce Payment Settings, you can now easily update the payment method on file for your bills and subscriptions to your Spruce account or debit card. Within the Spruce app, you can make Spruce your default payment method so you can easily keep track of your payments in one place and save time because you don’t have to visit each merchant separately!

Getting started is simple! Open the mobile app and click the Juggling too many payment methods? link from the MyLife page. This will launch the experience so you can select what bills, payments, and subscriptions you want to switch.

You can also launch your experience by going to the Payment Settings tab on the Profile & Settings page, then tap Add a bill or subscription

Sorry, no. To set up recurring payments, you must enable autopay with your merchant.

Once you have autopay set up with the billing provider, the payment will be deducted from your Spruce Spending account, if you choose to update your payment method to Spruce.

No, you will have to cancel your subscriptions directly with your merchant.

Insufficient accounts could lead to fees and other penalties for late payments from the billing provider, so please make sure your account is funded through direct deposit or other recurring transfers to your Spruce account. Set up direct deposit to make sure your account is sufficiently funded to cover your bills and other transactions.

Go to your Payment settings tab from the Profile & Settings page to see all the payments you updated. You can also add additional bills or subscriptions here.

Remember, you will only be able to see billing accounts you have updated using the Spruce app on this page.

This feature is only available in the mobile app for now. If you don’t have the app on your phone yet, you can download it here.

If you report your card lost or stolen, or if your card expires and you get a new card, your new card information will not be updated automatically in the payments settings. Follow the prompt in your MyLife screen, or go to Payment settings, and select Update. Complete the series of steps to update your info with the new card number. Failure to do so may result in your payment declining and potential fees from your biller.

If you set up to make your payments using your account and routing numbers instead of using your debit card, you do not need to reenter your accounts.
