Early access depends on when payment is submitted. Funds are generally made available when payment instruction is received, which may be earlier than scheduled payment date.
Funds are insured by the FDIC on a pass-through basis, subject to applicable limitations, restrictions, and requirements for such FDIC pass-through insurance, when the funds are received in your account. FDIC insurance only protects when an FDIC-insured institution fails. Spruce and H&R Block are not banks or FDIC-insured institutions, but Pathward® N.A. is an FDIC-insured depository institution.
No fee to withdraw money at Allpoint® ATMs. $3 fee at other ATMs, plus any ATM operator fee.
Credit score is FICO® Score 8 based on Experian data. Your lender or insurer may use a different FICO Score than FICO Score 8, or another type of credit score altogether. FICO® is a trademark of Fair Isaac Corporation. This is a separate service from your Spruce Spending and Savings accounts, provided by Pathward®, N.A., Member FDIC.
Courtesy Coverage only available for purchase transactions, ATM withdrawals, and over-the-counter withdrawals using your debit card. It is a discretionary courtesy, not an extension of credit. Requires opt in and $200 in qualifying deposits over prior 35-day period. Negative balances are limited to $20 and must be repaid within 30 days. See Spending Account Agreement for details.
Does not change IRS refund processing speed. Claim is based on making federal refunds available when payment instruction is received, which may be earlier than scheduled payment date. Depends on timing of the IRS’s payment file. Available only for federal refunds. May be changed or discontinued at any time.
Under Mastercard’s Zero Liability Policy, your liability for unauthorized transactions using your Card is $0 if you notify us promptly upon becoming aware of the loss or theft, and you exercise reasonable care in safeguarding your Card from loss, theft, or unauthorized use. These provisions limiting your liability do not apply to debit transactions not processed by Mastercard. Please see the Spruce Spending Account Agreement for additional terms and restrictions that may apply.

Offer from Spruce. To qualify for the Plant Your Refund Refer a Friend Referral Campaign reward, eligible Spruce customers must refer eligible friends who complete the following: 1) referred person opens new Spruce Accounts between April 1, 2026 and April 15, 2026 using a valid and unexpired referral link; and 2) within 45 days of account signup referred person receives $200 in qualifying direct deposits and activates their physical Spruce debit card. Qualifying direct deposits are only ACH credits from an employer or government benefits (but not tax refunds). Not available for residents of Washington state. The $100 reward amount will be deposited into your Spruce Spending Account within 7 business days after all requirements are completed. May be modified or discontinued at any time. This is a separate and optional service provided by Atomic (not Pathward, which provides your Spruce Spending and Savings accounts).
The Annual Percentage Yield (APY) is accurate as of 04/03/2026. This rate is variable and can change without notice. Spruce Savings Accounts opened prior to July 17, 2025 may be required to opt in through the Spruce app or at sprucemoney.com to start earning interest.

Refund Advance loan: This is an optional tax refund-related loan from Pathward®, N.A.; it is not your tax refund. Loans are offered in amounts of $250, $500, $750, $1,250, $2,500, or $4,000.
