Early pay FAQs

Direct deposit is a method of payment where money is electronically transferred from one account to another. For payroll checks, your employer may offer to send your paycheck directly to your bank account instead of giving you a paper check. If your employer does direct deposit, you may be able to easily enroll in direct deposit through Spruce and even get paid up to 2 days early.


First, you need to set up direct deposit to your spending account. Once you are successfully setup, the "early payday" feature will automatically kick in. This means that your paycheck will be deposited into your account up to 2 days sooner than regularly scheduled.

Spruce makes enrolling in direct deposit easy! You can set up direct deposit online or in the app with Atomic or manually fill out the form to set up direct deposit with your employer.

ACH stands for Automated Clearing House, which is a network that allows financial institutions to electronically transfer money between accounts. The most common ACH transactions include direct deposit, direct payment, same-day transactions, and automatic debit. Using ACH for transactions is a convenient and secure way to move money quickly.
